Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

I won the blue ribbon at Rooster Call Art Show at the Alabama Chicken & Egg Festival 2012! The art show is organized by Lawrence County Art Council, in Moulton, AL.

Preparing for the Pilgrims at St. Peters

This is an 11 x 14 watercolor I painted from a photo my husband took while visiting Rome last fall. Walter went out to the basilica at the crack of dawn while the throngs were still asleep and the workers were getting ready for the tourists and pilgrims. 

Café du Monde, on Decatur Street

My Café du Monde watercolor was accepted in an online exhibit for the Linus Gallery's "Food For Thought" show.

This is an 11 x 14 watercolor that I painted from a camera phone snapshot I took in the French Quarter this winter at the famous Café du Monde on Decatur. They are well known for those delicious deep fried pastries sprinkled in confectioners sugar, the beignet. 

I was surprised to see that my table vignette is pretty typical. Do a google image search for "beignet" or "café du monde" and you'll see what I mean.

Avant le Gâteau

This is an 11 x 14 watercolor painted from a photo I took in my kitchen. I think this really became a lemon meringue pie but a friend named it for me and it stuck.

This painting was accepted in the juried show, "Rooster Call", to celebrate the annual Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival.

Parisian Pizzaria

This is an 11 x 14 watercolor painted from a photo I took on my recent trip to Paris. Traipsing around the stairs in Montmartre, this was one of many popular night spots.
