Café du Monde, on Decatur Street

My Café du Monde watercolor was accepted in an online exhibit for the Linus Gallery's "Food For Thought" show.

This is an 11 x 14 watercolor that I painted from a camera phone snapshot I took in the French Quarter this winter at the famous Café du Monde on Decatur. They are well known for those delicious deep fried pastries sprinkled in confectioners sugar, the beignet. 

I was surprised to see that my table vignette is pretty typical. Do a google image search for "beignet" or "café du monde" and you'll see what I mean.

Avant le Gâteau

This is an 11 x 14 watercolor painted from a photo I took in my kitchen. I think this really became a lemon meringue pie but a friend named it for me and it stuck.

This painting was accepted in the juried show, "Rooster Call", to celebrate the annual Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival.

Update:: I won the blue ribbon for this entry :)

Parisian Pizzaria

This is an 11 x 14 watercolor painted from a photo I took on my recent trip to Paris. Traipsing around the stairs in Montmartre, this was one of many popular night spots.

Red Door

I painted this from a photo I took downtown on the backside of restaurant in downtown Mobile, Alabama. I don't know what the front side is but the little silver thing on the door is a tortilla press or something refashioned into a knocker.

The bike is a purple Gitane, like I had as a youth. Mine was 10 speed. This is fixed gear. I didn't know they made fixed gears. Maybe it was refashioned too.

I won a merit award for this one in the Mobile Art Associations Fall Juried show, 2011.

This painting was recently accepted in the juried show, "Bike Art at the Dairy."
